Where to find me this Christmas

I have been really busy getting ready for all the Christmas exhibitions and shows and now they are all up and running. You can find me at Thelma Hulbert Gallery‘s Present Makers Show in Honniton with lots of upcoming Devonshire makers. Its always a great show with an emphasis on ceramics this year. A special commemorative piece

The brief was to incorporate the children’s names and the motifs of tear drops and butterflies. The clients chose the glass and we tried to incorporate the children’s birth stone colours. I decided on a free flowing shape edged with bubbles and with a sense of movement. The clients decided on a flow of stars and butterflies running through the panel and they love colour (I understand their house is very colourful and original!) Packaging up some exclusive designs for a new Scottish Gallery.

For several months now I have been working on some exclusive designs for a new gallery opening in Kintyre, Argyll, Scotland called Coastal Design and at last its all done, packed and ready to travel to the other end of the country. But I have managed to make a new shoal of acid etched fish, they few off my craft stall in the run up to Christmas and I am listing some in my folksy shop and sending the rest to Spinnakers Gallery, Credition and Atelier, Barnstable. Autumn and winter pieces

I have been busily working on some seasonal designs, from autumn leaves and dandelion clocks to winter scenes and tiny glass icicles for the Christmas tree, all of these will be finding their way into my Folksy shop over the next few days. I have included painted detail to the panels and the icicles are all made using recycled glass. Oh, and my autumn leaves are selling wonderfully at present. Devon Open Studios, past the half way point!

I am well into my second week of Devon Open Studios and nearly 50 people have been to visit, which is great. Its a bit strange not knowing when people are coming and then several people arriving at once, but that is part of the fun of it too! I have also been able to get on with lots of work, having nearly finished my Scotland window and I have new commissions to get on with at the weekend, so lots of interesting processes to watch including a restoration. I have been hoping to get on with my collaboration with Lynwoodcrafts this week, but other things, like going camping, kept getting in the Firstly I had to make more brooches, 139 to be exact as everywhere is selling out fast and I have been busy with my Florence rooftops panel commission, which I need to finish in time for the couple’s wedding, it is starting to shape up now and I have cemented it today. Craft fairs, commissions, drawing and making

My first week back from holiday has been so busy, we knew it would be and my husband Mark had the week off work to look after the children, so I could get on with stuff and he could spend a week chilling out with the girls (if such a thing is possible with our kids!) I have spent much of the week making bunting, hearts and beach hut panels to restock what has been sold at fairs and online and to fulfill my wholesale order for Atelier Gallery in Barnstable (due this Friday).

My family and I enjoyed a lush holiday in West Wales with 2 other families who are old mates from university and we get together every year for a joint holiday. We stayed in a gorgeous old quarry house in a village called Cilgarren. I have been so busy my blog has become quite neglected! I have a new recycled public art commission, making a sculpture out of empty milk cartons for Dairy Crest, this will be I have 2 new commissions, one for a lovely family in Scotland making a mountain scene and another making panels for the grooms gifts for a wedding, 2 lily panels and a train! Nothing is wasted

I prepared lots of different designs for the current commission I am finishing off and some of them I liked quite a lot. So I am working them up into small gift panels to sell on my folksy shop, here is the first, based on Turkish tile and stained glass designs and using left over glass from the big commission.
