Devon is surrounded with beautiful coastline which I find a constant inspiration and this bunting is no exception! Part of my new 2012 series of designs each of these flags is totally unique and reflect the colours and nature on the South West Coast. I painted the flags with traditional glass paint and fired them in the kiln to bond with the glass. Next I put copper foil around the edge, soldered this and soldered metal loops to hang each flag. They were then strung on matching light Turquoise ribbon and evenly spaced with vintage wooden beads from a necklace from a charity shop. More Info »Teeny Tiny Love Birds, Stained Glass Bird Cage

My brand new spring 2012 design! I often get asked to make gifts for weddings and special occasions and when I saw some old bird cages at a junk shop this idea came to me!
This panel is made using exactly the same techniques as traditional stained glass windows in churches, I cut the glass, paint on special enamels which I fire in the kiln to bond the paint work to the glass. Once this is complete I construct the panel using lead came, solder the joins together, push cement into all the gaps and then finish with an acid patina and a final polish with stove black. Looking through my glass stash these 2 colours just seemed to fit together very nicely and I have decorated them with patterns I have developed from studying Indian fabric design details. My own unique design with acid etched detail. Firstly I cut the glass, then apply PVA glue to act as a resist to the acid. When I am happy with the patterns I allow the glue to dry. Next I apply etching creme (an acid paste) and leave that to bite into the glass. When the paste is removed and cleaned up there is a frosted and shiny glass pattern. I then copper foil the edges and solder the whole thing together. I then clean it up and finish the design with a bead and my brand ribbon. More Info »Teeny Tiny Beach Scene, Stained Glass Panel
